Disco Pogo
Issue 5 / Khruangbin
“Also, I remember when I lived there, Chic would be playing in a restaurant. That just doesn’t happen in America!”
Laura Lee Ochoa, Khruangbin
Our fifth issue is our first triple-header cover with Bicep, Khruangbin and Ellka taking turns.
As they prepared to release their fourth album, ‘La Sala’, we hung out with Khruangbin. The trio outlined why their head-spinning, globe-traversing, beguiling musical mix can take in Thai funk, Hawaiian folk, African desert blues and Persian pop before segueing into covers of early-90s Eurodisco standards.
Issue 5 also features:
- Bicep return with their hybrid audio-visual DJ/live Chroma project
- Elkka talks pleasure in music, euphoria and women
- Never mind the Balearics, here’s Kate Bush
- Fatboy Slim, David Holmes, James Lavelle and co look back on 1994, the year that changed everything…
- We speak to those that were at that Flowered Up mansion party
- Robert Hood and daughter discuss their Floorplan
- Just how did Slam make ‘Positive Education’?
- We bow down at the majesty of Optimo
Plus… DFA, Nightmares On Wax, Lindstrøm, Julia Pavon, Krust, Bolis Pupul… and loads more across 200 pages.
The Elkka cover has sold out and only a few copies left of the Bicep and Khruangbin covers.
Issue 5 now available as a PDF digital download.
